LENT BLESSINGS | Bless ups for me and you

Do you remember our Lent Blessings from last season?

This year, each blessing and illustration has been revised, updated, and printed into a collection of 40 cards to support the Lent Blessing project at DOWNTOWN CHURCH. A group of 25 courageously committed individuals are sending (snail mail) one blessing per day during Lent.

Do you need a bless up? Do you know someone else who does? Let us know and we'll pass the information along.

MARCH 1 | Buses, Ashes, and Worship

We'll have two worship services together as a church family that evening, 5:30 pm and 7:00 pm upstairs at 701 Whaley. And it will be great and somber and just what you need to get your Lent on.

But in the morning, we're trying something new. We will move outside our comfort zones and be a visual symbol of the reality of Jesus. Reminding people and ourselves that we are dust and to dust we will return...and that there is a connection in our mortality, our humanity, our brokenness...that unites us as one in our need for salvation.

Get all the details here.

LENT IN MY COFFEE | March 2 - April 13

Lent In Your Coffee is a 7-week study beginning on Thursday, March 2nd. Meet our co-pastors at the our church offices from 7:30-8:30 Thursday mornings if you want something extra in your coffee.

We'll read Jayber Crow by Wendell Berry over the eight week period. There's no need to register. But you do need to purchase a copy of the book and read the first 45 pages before our first meeting on March 2nd.

More details can be found here.

PRETTY | Easter Lilies in Remembrance or Celebration

Contribute a lily (or several) on Easter Sunday in remembrance or celebration of another. During checkout, you'll have the opportunity to provide names to be included in our program Easter Sunday.

APRIL 9 | Two Services at 9 and 11

We'll celebrate Palm Sunday with two services rather than our normal time at 10 am. Please join us at either 9 or 11 - or worship at both!

COMMUNION | April 13

For Maundy Thursday we move our table from 701 Whaley to The Spot on Blanding. Back where it all began, this is where the church met when it first started out, and now it’s our office space--the program says, it’s where we dream. Coming into a place that’s been part of the rhythm of this community’s life for years provides a tangible link to the people who have come and gone as part of DOWNTOWN CHURCH, and reminds us that we’re part of a bigger community throughout time and space.

Drop-in for Maundy Thursday on April 13th between 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. at 1415 Blanding St, Suite 6.

EASTER SUNDAY | Two Services at 9 and 11

On Easter, we'll expand our worship to two services: 9 am and 11 am (instead of our normal 10 am service).

If you are planning to visit DOWNTOWN CHURCH on Easter for the first time, or if you've never been to our service on Easter before - you may have a few questions. So, we've put together this field guide to Easter at DTC just for you.
