“Let the little children come to me…” - Matthew 19:14a
At Downtown Church you will see children - everywhere! Our hope and prayer is that children will see the church - and the people of the church - as a place where they are seen, welcomed, safe, and loved.
Kids can join in worship for any or all of the time, or they can head to one of our Downtown Kids rooms specialized for children between 0–8.
In their Downtown Kids rooms children have the opportunity to play and learn each Sunday. The lessons are creatively crafted to go alongside the sermons.
Check-in is by the front door for all ages.
Littlest Littles - Provides a safe place to play for nursery aged children (ages 0-2)
Littles - Lesson & a simple craft for preschool aged children. This group has time for play, a Bible story lesson, and a simple craft (ages 2-4)
Lower elementary - Downtown Kids - Lesson & craft for our younger elementary aged children.
This group has time for play, a Bible story lesson, simple discussion, and an activity or craft (ages 5 & up)
This group meets upstairs.
Our DOWNTOWN Kid workers are paid staff and all have completed yearly Child Protection Policy training.
What age does the nursery start?
The nursery is available and ready for babies of any age.
Many folks wait until their child is 3 months old, but it is up to you.
What happens in the nursery?
The nursery provides a safe space for babies to play, sleep, and eat.
There are bouncers for resting, toys for playing, diapers for changing, and trained teachers ready to hold and rock little ones.
Who leads the nursery?
We have paid teachers who care for our little ones. They have all completed regular background checks and child protection training. Several of our teachers also work or have worked in preschool settings.
Do we need to bring anything?
Bring a bottle if your child will be hungry and a change of clothes as backup. There are diapers, wipes, and little teething snacks in the classroom available if needed.
How do I drop off my child?
Sign your child in on the ipad (ask for help if it is your first time), and put a name tag on your child’s back.
The nursery is in the far room near check-in - you can either walk through the preschool room to drop your child off or walk around.
