KIDS | DTK + TIny Theologians update
Communion Invitation - We began to talk about Communion this past Sunday and will learn more on 4/12. If you and your child are ready, you are welcome to have them join you as our congregation celebrates Communion during worship on 4/12. For any child who is ready, you can pick them up from DTK during holy interruption (which happens right before Communion) and they can join you for the rest of the service.
Tiny Theologians Update - From 4/19-5/24 we are going to try a weekly Tiny Theologians group.
We’ll meet at ~10:45am (after holy interruption during the 10:30 service).
This group will be led by some Tiny Theologian parents and our DTK staff. They’ll read and discuss Scripture together - focusing on the early church after Jesus’ death and resurrection.
If you want to read more details, see below.
Tiny Theologians 4/26 - We will still gather from 11:30-1 on 4/26.
This will be a time of games, sharing a meal, and learning together. Check-in will be by the back doors next to the stage. This will be our final monthly gathering for the school year.
Tiny Theologians Update FAQ
Why are we changing? - We’ve heard a desire for more options for our upper elementary kids and the reality that it can be hard for kids who want to dive deeper to do so in the DTK room.
How is it going to work? - We are working with some parents to create an option for our Tiny Theologians - ages ~7-11. We’ll gather after holy interruption so this group can participate in a few songs, prayers, and the time of confession. They will then gather in the open office upstairs with leaders to read and discuss a Bible story together.
Who is it for? - This option is for children who are starting to transition into being in worship and who want a space to gather with other children their age.
What are they learning? - We’ll be using a curriculum by Spark House that walks through Scripture stories chronologically. We’re going to pick up with the New Testament Scriptures after Jesus’ death and resurrection about the early church.
Why only 6 weeks? - This 6-week trial will give us time to gather and see how the format works and if changes need to be made. We will not meet for the summer and will re-start in the fall.
My child is 8/9/10, can they stay in the DTK room? - Yes! Children who enjoy the DTK format of hearing a story and responding through a craft or activity are welcome to stay.
