Asheville Youth Mission Weekend Trip
The youth heard our adults were heading to the mountains to do some mission work and they immediately begged to go. Unfortunately, we can’t pull them out of school for a whole week, but we do have a youth-centered mission opportunity happening this fall. Asheville Youth Mission (AYM) is hosting us for a mission weekend November 7-9th.Youth Mission Co is a 501(c)3 organization that coordinates youth mission programs in Asheville and Raleigh, NC and Memphis, TN.
“Located in the mountains of North Carolina, Asheville Youth Mission gives young people an opportunity to explore the hidden needs and struggles of those who are living on the margins within and around a beautiful tourist town.Groups will work with a variety of agencies working with those who are homeless, in poverty, or food insecure, both in urban and rural settings.”

What will our schedule look like?
We’ll arrive on Friday evening and have dinner as we get settled in. Saturday morning we’ll wake up, have breakfast, and head out to our assigned service site. We’ll eat a bagged lunch at the site and return after a full day of work. We’ll end the day with dinner and a debrief. Our crew will hit the road mid-morning on Sunday and return to Columbia in the early afternoon.
What type of service will they be doing?
To be determined. Asheville Youth Mission partners with several community partners and our work will depend on their needs.
Where will they be staying?
We will be staying at First Presbyterian Church in Asheville, NC (40 Church St., 28801). There are designated gender specific sleeping rooms with plenty of floor space. We will bring our own air mattresses and bedding.
What will they eat?
Asheville Youth Mission provides all the meals for the week. Downtown Church will help accommodate any dietary restrictions.
