"They were in a safe-house, protected from the possibility of life letting them down again, sheltered from the chaos that seemed to follow Jesus from village to village, guarded from the threat of exposure to the same authorities that swiftly swept the hope that Jesus so convincingly summoned into the grave. The aroma of death was fresh. They believed their lives were in danger. They were all shook up."
