MORNING WORSHIP TWO
Responsive Reading - Psalm 95:1-7
Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised in teh city of our God.
His holy mountain, beautiful in elevation, is the joy of all the earth, Mount Zion.
We ponder your steadfast love, O God, in the midst of your temple.
Your name, O God, like your praise, reaches to the ends of the earth.
Walk about Zion, go all around it, count its towers, that you may tell the next generation: Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised!
Scripture Reading - Mark 6:30-32
The apostles gathered around Jesus and told him all that they had done and taught. He said to them, “Come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest a while.” For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat. And they went away in the boat to a deserted place by themselves.
The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
Silent Reflection
Prayers for All People
Jesus,
You embody the kingdom on earth
And there is much work to do –
Feed the hungry,
Tend to the sick,
Lift the lowly,
Humble the proud,
Love God, self and neighbor.
You call us also to rest from our labor.
We pray for rest for the laborers in the fields
For the baristas and the clerk of the gas station
For bus drivers and factory workers
For those tied to their phones on call 24/7.
We pray for the laborers in the hospital,
And those in emergency vehicles
And those working minute clinics on a Friday night.
We pray for rest for our teachers
For our bosses
And for those within our supervision and care.
We pray for rest in your church.
We trust that the holy interruption of your kingdom
Comes even as we rest, perhaps especially when we rest
Our spirit in you.
Amen.

Mark 6:30-32
What would you tell Jesus about all you have done and taught?
Where is Jesus telling you to rest?
What is it like to be around someone who hasn’t taken (or been able to take) time away to rest?
