CONNECT | Service Week
When: October 19-25
What: Join us throughout the week as we partner with different organizations around Columbia for a week of service centering around poverty. Whether you can only join for one, or you want to participate multiple times, our goal is to provide opportunities for everyone. Scroll below to see dates, times, and descriptions for each place to serve. Be sure to register individually and make sure you meet the age requirements. Many organizations have waivers for you to sign as well, you’ll receive those in the confirmation email for the sign-up or onsite.

What: Yard Work / cleaning and organizing storage shed
WEDNESDAY
Wednesday, October 21 at Harvest Hope
When: 11:00am-1:30pm
Where: 2220 Shop Road
Volunteer Details: 20 people total (11-15 year olds need to be accompanied by an adult)
What: Sorting / stocking items and helping customers receive food.
THURSDAY
Thursday, October 22 at Home works
When: 3:30-5:30pm
Where: 3823 W Beltline Blvd, Columbia, SC 29204.
Volunteer Details: 15 or less, all ages
What: Packing blessing baskets with household essentials

When: 9:00-10:30am

Volunteer Details: 15 people, any age
What: You’ll be packing meals for seniors

What: Working in the Clothing or furniture bank

Where: Find out closer to volunteering date
Volunteer Details: 20 volunteers needed, ages 15+
What: Working to complete the inside of homes.

What: Paint/stain garden boxes, Prune existing plants, Shovel soil into new garden boxes, Clean and weed a hoop house and Plant seedlings

When: 9-12

Volunteer Details: 10 volunteers needed, ages 10+
What: Paint/stain garden boxes, Prune existing plants, Shovel soil into new garden boxes, Clean and weed a hoop house and Plant seedlings

When: 5:00-7:00, Dinner
Where: 1629 McFadden Street.
Volunteer Details: 15
What: Volunteers will be serving a meal to families and playing games with them afterwards.
SUNDAY
Sunday, October 25 at Rapid Shelter Columbia
When: 12:00-2:00pm
Where: 191 Calhoun St
Volunteer Details: For ages 18+, an unlimited number of people may participate
What: Pressure washing, cleaning, visiting with residents
Sunday, October 25 at Transitions
When: 12:00-1:30pm
Where: 2025 Main Street Columbia, SC 29201 (Entrance on Calhoun st)
Volunteer Details: Limit of 15 participants (ages 16+)
What: You’ll be serving food and helping around the grounds
Sunday, October 25, Homeless No More Truck or Treat
When: 4-6pm
Where: 1629 McFadden Street
Volunteer Details: Bring a bag of candy and decorate your car before volunteering at Homeless no more for a trunk or treat. The youth will also be helping with the Trunk or Treat.
