GO | Malawi Interest Meeting
An Invitation: Downtown Church is Going to Malawi
For years, Downtown Church has looked for ways to serve beyond our zip code. That search has led us to an opportunity in Malawi, Africa.
We're collaborating with Ministry of Hope, an organization that's spent decades caring for orphans, widows, and families in rural Malawi, to send a team from DTC in the summer of 2027.
What will we do in Malawi?
The work may include mobile medical clinics, supporting a crisis nursery and feeding center, leading vacation bible school, tutoring and mentoring children, and helping install solar-powered irrigation systems that give villages a more reliable food supply.
What do we know right now?
When: Summer 2027. We're still finalizing exact dates.
How long: Roughly 12–14 days, including travel.
Who: Individuals and families. This isn't just a trip for adults.
Families have made this trip together with children as young as 10.
Cost: Still being finalized, but plan on roughly $4,500–$6,000 per person, including flights. We'll walk through the full breakdown at the interest meeting.
We're holding an interest meeting right after worship on Sunday, August 16th.
No commitment required, come, ask questions, and see if this is for you.
How physically demanding is this trip?
This is a meaningful trip, and it's also a very demanding one, starting with a day and a half of travel to get there. At one point, we’ll be on a plane for 13 hours straight. When we get there, the roads are rough, the days are long, and in rural Malawi, a pharmacy or hospital isn't around the corner. If you manage a health condition that requires steady access to medication, or a physical condition that makes hours of travel on unpaved roads difficult, we want to talk that through with you before you commit.
If this stirs your curiosity, complete the link to the interest form and join us on
August 16th from 11:30-12:30pm at Church.
If you already know you can't make that Sunday but want to know more, reach out to Charles@downtownchurch.me. I'd love to talk with you.
