Hear the Service Straight From Your Hearing Aids

Downtown Church now has an Auracast broadcast during worship. Auracast is a newer Bluetooth technology that lets one transmitter send audio to any present listeners who want to hear.

If your hearing aids support it, the sermon, music and the rest of the service play directly through them, without the echo of the room. YAY!

How to connect

It works a lot like joining a Wi-Fi network:

  • Look for the broadcast called Downtown Church

  • There's no password. Just select it and you're in.

Where you'll find it depends on your hearing aids. Usually it's the "Auracast" or "Broadcast" section of your hearing aid's app (not the regular Bluetooth menu on your phone). Some Android phones also have a built-in Auracast option in their Bluetooth settings. Avantree has step-by-step guides for each hearing aid brand at support.avantree.com. Your hearing aid's instructions for use, or your audiologist, can also walk you through it.

What if mine aren't compatible?

Not every hearing aid supports Auracast yet. Some older models can get it through a firmware update, so it's worth asking your audiologist. If yours can't connect, you haven't run out of options. We want everyone to be able to hear what's happening on Sunday mornings, and there are a couple of hardware options that can help, such as a small receiver you plug headphones into, or one that works with a neck loop.

Here, at Downtown Church we want to make sure you can hear the music and the words each week.
