Curious About Confirmation? Let’s Take the Journey Together
At Downtown Church, confirmation is more than a class—it's an adventure in faith, friendship, and self-discovery. Whether you’re someone who’s grown up hearing Bible stories or you’re just beginning to ask big questions about God, confirmation is for you.

What is Confirmation, Really?
Imagine confirmation as a series of stepping stones on a lifelong journey. Its core purpose is to nurture
young people in the faith and equip them to explore, articulate, and take ownership of their beliefs. It doesn’t mean you’ve “graduated” from church or become an expert in everything faith-related. Instead, it’s a chance to gather with others, share experiences, share meals, reflect, laugh, ask real questions—sometimes even hard questions—about faith, God, and real life.

We’ll talk about things you actually wonder about:

  • The Trinity: What does it mean to say God is Father, Son, and Spirit?

  • Jesus: Who is Jesus, and why do we follow him?

  • The Bible: Not just what’s inside, but how we read and interpret it in our context.

  • Church and worship: Why do we gather, sing, pray, and share sacraments like communion and baptism?

  • Connection: How do you connect with God through music, story-telling, prayer, and even nature?

  • Big Topics: We won’t shy away from talking about sin, forgiveness, love, and those moments when faith gets complicated, because it does get complicated.

Who’s Confirmation For?
Confirmation is designed for students in 9th-12th grade.
What matters is that you’re open to exploring, connecting with others, and to letting questions—and maybe even doubts—be part of your journey.

What to Expect

  • A mix of learning and doing: We’ll read, discuss, and also create, serve, and worship together.

  • Food, laughter, friendship: Every meeting includes a meal (because faith is best shared around a table).

  • Safe space for questions: No question is off-limits, and you won’t be put on the spot to share if you’re not ready.

  • Confirmation is a commitment. It’s important that confirmands plan to attend every gathering to get the most out of this experience.

If you’re ready to explore what faith means for you, or even if you’re just curious, you’re invited. Confirmation is another step—never the final one—and you’re welcome to take this walk with us, wherever you are in your journey.
